FTP Overview
FTP or File Transfer Protocol is an internet standard protocol for transferring files from one location to another. Normally this is used to move files from your computer to a server, or in reverse. FTP enables you to easily update your website files using a client specifically designed to work with the FTP protocol.
Want to connect to your website via FTP but don’t know how to configure your FTP program to connect? We have got you covered as we have over 10 setup guides for the most popular FTP softwares out there. Click here to view these guides.

Connection Details
You will need the login credentials for the account you wish to connect to. To connect to the primary (main) FTP account, you will need to locate the credentials that were sent to you via email when you first signed up for a Site5 service. Normally the subject line for this email would read as follows…
Welcome New [Service] ([Location]) Customer!
…for example…
Welcome New HostPro + Turboo (Dallas) Customer!
You will then find the login details under the FTP Information section.
Note: If you have changed your (SiteAdmin) password since this email was sent, the password would no longer be valid. If you don’t remember your password, or for some reason you no longer have access to it, please feel free to contact our support team.
Troubleshooting
- File Display Limit
- If you have over 2,000 files, you will only be able to see the first 2,000 of them when you are connected via FTP. For example, if you have 2,135 files in a directory, you will only see the first 2,000. We recommend that you use sFTP or the file manager if you are attempting to browse a folder that has more than 2,000 files.
