I have shared hosting on the Leeke server, which has Fantastico installed. When, if ever, will it get Softculous?
John Oliver at Site5 August 20, 2012 at 4:03 pm
Hello Tim,
We are currently deploying softculous fleet wide to all of our shared services. We are doing them in small batches to ensure a quick response time incase something were to break (unlikely – just a precaution). We hope to complete this operation within the next month. The tech contact for your account will receive an email when softculous is installed.
Brent April 22, 2014 at 6:51 pm
I was wondering if you can have ownCloud available on the Softaculous menu.
James Davey April 23, 2014 at 7:43 am
Hi Brent,
It is not an option that Softaculous provides at this time, I am afraid. We would love to have this available, but Softaculous provides the packages.
David April 27, 2014 at 10:41 pm
I’m looking for a script to do a countdown to an event that would be posted on a homepage. Is there one available on Site5? I’d appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
James Davey April 28, 2014 at 8:03 am
Hi David,
While there are none specifically available in Softaculous, there are countless scripts and widgets available that will do this for you. Your best bet would be to use a larger script like WordPress or Joomla, and look for a plugin or module that would show a countdown clock for you.
Mike June 18, 2014 at 3:53 pm
I’ve had a flash based website on here since 2005. It’s never been updated and my original web guy who set it up for me is no longer around. I’ve purchased a WP theme and am close to getting it ready to go live. My question is do I need to do something with the old files prior to loading in the new WP scripts? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I am new to this process.
James Davey June 19, 2014 at 7:44 am
Hi Mike,
You don’t really have to remove these, as your WordPress installation should take over, but it would be a good idea to remove the existing site files before you upload/install WordPress. This is both to keep things tidy, so you know where everything is, but also to reduce disk space and resource usage on your account.
Archeage June 24, 2014 at 3:01 am
How are updates handled with regards to wordpress?
James Davey June 24, 2014 at 7:44 am
As updates are released, Softaculous makes newer versions available a short time later. You can then upgrade within Softaculous itself. Alternatively, you can update within WordPress – a one-click process – and maintain your latest version there. Please note that once you update within WordPress, it is very likely that you will not be able to update through Softaculous going forward.
Silke October 29, 2014 at 6:02 am
Would be good to list which applications require a license and which are free.
James Davey October 29, 2014 at 7:36 am
Hello Silke,
All scripts that required a license have been removed from Softaculous – if you see it available to install in our system, it should be free to install and run :)

Good job. Keep doing.
hot runner coil heater March 3, 2015 at 10:52 pm
Looks good, I will try.
Wolfy May 8, 2015 at 11:46 pm
I would very much like to use eyeos. However, the current version 2.5 is terrible. Is it possible to get a rollback to v. 1.9?
James Davey May 11, 2015 at 5:07 am
Hi Wolfy,
Not in WebApps, no. You are able to install it manually, of course, if you can find the installation files for the older version.
Wolfy May 13, 2015 at 11:20 am
Ah, I’m good to go then. I found Lars and his oneye project. It’s much improved over eyeos and I have been able to test it under Xampp and upload it successfully to site5 in place of the eyeos installation. So far so good. Currently, I’m working with Lars to find bugs and glitches in the 0.9.5 preview. Soon, I might start collecting and testing the old web apps made for the eyeos 1.x platform that still work under oneye, so that he may rebuild the software depository. I just hope there’s a better way to test each app than to install it and run it through its paces.
James Davey May 13, 2015 at 1:11 pm
Hi Wolfy,
Glad to hear it’s working for you. Sadly, the only real way to test apps like this in a live environment is to do just that – install them, and run them.
Vitor November 9, 2015 at 8:10 am
Please, remove Laravel.
Do not continue deceiving .. It does not work here at Site5. Take the test yourself, the current version does not allow Laravel.
James Davey November 9, 2015 at 12:09 pm
Hello Vitor,
I have just tested it, and I do see an error regarding the PHP version. This will be resolved as soon as PHP 5.5 is available on our servers.
Renae December 13, 2015 at 1:18 am
Is there a reason Softaculous is not on available on my cPanel?
James Davey December 15, 2015 at 5:19 am
Hello Renae,
It should be present. Please contact our support team so we can take a look at this for you.
Alina April 8, 2016 at 9:03 am
Hi, i just tried to instal clipbucket but it didn’t work , could you please review this? i guess it’s missing some files
Corey Mahon April 12, 2016 at 8:55 am
Hi Alina!
I apologize for the issues you ran into while installing clipbucket. You are correct, clipbucket requires ffmpeg which we do not have installed on our shared and reseller servers. We’ll make sure that clipbucket is no longer listed in this software list.
