Datacenter Location 1

Power

Backup power, including UPS (uninterruptible power supply) and Generators exist for the Premises. Power Distribution Units (PDU) and electrical panels exist in the Premises. Additionally, each data center facility is equipped with generators that automatically supply power to the facility in the event of outside power failure. Maintenance contracts are in place to ensure the equipment is maintained to vendors’ specifications. The generators are run and tested on a periodic basis under load and no-load conditions and necessary routine maintenance is performed.

Fire

At all premises Fire Detection and Suppression systems, including dry pipe, fire extinguishers, smoke and fire alarms exist in the Building. The fire detection and suppression systems are typically tested on an annual basis.

HVAC

Heating and cooling (HVAC) mechanisms exist, such as CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioning) units, CRAH units, air handlers and/or chillers, in and/or for the Premises to monitor and control temperature and humidity for the Premises. HVAC equipment, depending on the type, has preventative maintenance performed on a monthly to quarterly frequency.

Estimated Restore Times For Full Data Loss

Because each server (even at the same location) can vary in disk usage, it’s unfortunately not possible to give exact estimates on how long a full restore will take. From experience however, we have found that most servers can be restored within 8 to 16 hours.

Datacenter Location 2

These locations maintain emergency escalation procedures for each facility. This procedure is posted in online documentation systems and physically at each facility. The procedure includes internal escalation points, contact and escalation details for each important vendor, and procedures for dealing with various emergency events such as power failures, generator issues, load-shed plans, fire, and AC problems.

Power

They have battery backup and the time under full load varies based on location:

  • NY: 20 minutes full load
  • NL: 12 minutes full load
  • MTL: 8 minutes full load

Similarly, here are TTL estimates of fuel for generators, at each location:

  • NY: 10 days+
  • NL: 8 hours (restricted by local law)
  • MTL: 12 hours

They have agreements in place with multiple providers for procurement of fuel, and the turnaround time is as follows:

  • NY: 5 hour turn around
  • NL: 4 hours
  • MTL: 2 hours

Preventative Maintenance is performed at or better than the manufactures recommendations. This includes all UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), PDU (Power Distribution Units), CRAC (Computer Room Air Conditioner) Units, Dry coolers, Fire detection systems, Fire suppression systems, Generators, etc. In NY the generators are tested weekly with a full load test monthly. All other locations have a monthly test + full load test per quarter.

Fire

All locations are equipped with VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) fire detection system.
