Connectivity

With it’s diverse fiber connectivity Sao Paulo is a major peering point for many telecom companies and it provides great network connectivity to Brazil and all surrounding South American countries.

The Sao Paulo datacenter has two diverse and redundant connections from Telefónica and Oi (Telemar). Both providers have diverse entrances into the facility with multiple Gigabit fibers. Connectivity with the Internet and with RJ1 is provided by two dark fiber rings 100% redundant, with double approach, lit by four Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing systems that are redundant and independent. There is also double physical approach for external access to the redundant rooms of the telecom operators and direct connection with the carriers present in the data center.

Power

The Sao Paulo datacenter has an uninterrupted power supply (UPS) with enough capacity (11.8 MW) to allow for a smooth transition to the generator system maintained onsite.

The location has redundant diesel generator sets that allow for 120 hours (5 days) of power without the need to refill. Total power capacity of the generator system is roughly 14MW and can easily power the facility in its entirety.

Fire

The Sao Paulo datacenter has a very early smoke detection system.  The datacenter is also equipped with an inert gas (FM-200) fire fighting system which extinguishes the fire without damaging the equipment, without causing risk to the occupants and does not damaging the ozone layer.

Estimated Restore Times For Full Data Loss

Because each server (even at the same location) can vary in disk usage, it’s unfortunately not possible to give exact estimates on how long a full restore will take. From experience however, we have found that most servers can be restored within 8 to 16 hours.
