cPanel: How to Login

cPanel is a standardized platform by which you can manage a Linux server through a web interface via your browser, allowing you to make complicated changes with just a few clicks of a button, or to publish and maintain your website files and configuration.

cPanel is available by default on all of our Linux shared and Reseller hosting packages, and is available on our VPS servers for $10/month.

This article provides multiple ways that you can log into cPanel as well as troubleshooting information if you experience errors:

Via your Domain Name

If you an existing customer and have your websites DNS pointing to our servers, you can access the cPanel via your domain name.

Replace yourdomain.com with your website address.

  • http://www.yourdomain.com:2082 (unsecure)
  • http://www.yourdomain.com:2083 (will redirect you to a secure link)
  • http://cpanel.yourdomain.com/ (will connect over port 80, allowing you to bypass a local firewall)

Once navigated to the cPanel page, you should now be able to log in!

Via your Server IP

If you do not yet have your websites DNS pointing to our servers, you can still access the cPanel on our server using the IP address or server name that was provided in your welcome email.

  • http://servername or IP address/cpanel
  • http://servername or IP address:2082
  • http://servername or IP address:2083

In the event that you are unable to locate your server name or IP, and do not have access to the welcome letter that was sent to you upon signup, the following article may help you find it:

If you are still unable to locate your IP address, please contact our chat team to have that information provided to you.

Once navigated to the cPanel page, you should now be able to log in!

Troubleshooting cPanel Access

If you are having difficulty accessing or logging into cPanel, the following troubleshooting steps may help:

  • The Login Page Loads, but Doesn’t Accept my Username and Password

If your login attempts fail after you have successfully navigated to the cPanel login page, please reset your password and try again:

If you still experience difficulty logging in, please try to manually type the username or password, carefully ensuring that no additional characters or spaces are included in your attempt.

  • The Login Page Fails to Load

There are two possible causes for this:

    • Your local office or network administrator may be blocking port 2082 or 2083: You will need to troubleshoot your network connection to allow the use of this port, or point your domain to our server and connect using http://cpanel.yourdomain.com, which works over port 80.
    • You may be being blocked by our firewall: This generally occurs when a number of failed login attempts occur in a row. If you were accessing the panel and are no longer able to do, this is the likely reason.

  • What is my Cpanel URL? I wanted to have a bookmark to the Cpanel directly, instead of logging in Site5 Backstage to save some clicks anytime I want to check something from the server, but I don’t find info about it here. It assumes I already know it :(

    • You can use any one of your domains that you have hosted with us and simply add a “/cpanel” to the end of the URL string.

      For example… “http://mysite.com/cpanel”

  • Hi,
I have an addon domain and I’d like to have a cPanel account to access the addon domain’s files. Is it possible to configure an account for that domain only, i.e. not have access to the rest of the site?

    Thank you.

    • Hello Marianna,

Unfortunately because the “addon domain” feature is already an option of cPanel itself, you cannot create a dedicated cPanel account/login for just that addon domain. You can however split that addon domain out into its own account if your plan allows for it.

Simply remove the addon domain from your current cPanel account and use WHM to create a new cPanel account using that domain. You will then need to move your files to the new account using FTP. If you have MySQL databases, you will need to use phpMyAdmin to export theses databases and you will need to reimport them once the new account is created. Please keep in mind that if you are using emails with this addon domain that you will need to back them up BEFORE removing the adding domain from your current cPanel account.

We are in the process of publishing Knowledge Base articles with detailed information on how to split addon domains into their own accounts. Once they are done, I will reply back with a link. :)

  • Hello.

I’m trying to login to cpanel using http://mysite.com/cpanel and all I get is an error message saying that the webpage is not available.

Do you know why I’m not able log in? Is there an alternative log-in link? Thanks in advance for the help.

    • Hello Mandi,

You should be redirected to yoursite.com:2082/ (I’ve edited your actual domain in your post, for privacy) automatically, as that is the ‘proper’ URL. It is working normally when I test it – can you contact our support team via chat, with your IP address (they can help you find it, if needed), and we can check to see if you’re hitting a firewall on our end.

  • I have mmy login, password and IP – however I cannot get in :(
    Please help!

    • Hello Melissa,

The quickest way to solve this would be to contact our support team via chat – they can test the login, and potentially reset the login information for you right there.
