Domain Transfer: 1&1

This demo assumes you have a domain name registered through 1and1.com, and starts from their home page

Now let’s learn how to transfer your domain name away from this registrar, and into the domain registry of your choice

Domain name transfers must be initiated at the new registrars website…. that is, the website for the domain registrar where you want your domain name transferred to

However, you must first ensure that your domain name is not locked, or being prevented from being transferred out of this registry….. and that’s what we’re going to do now…..

1) Click Customer Login

2) Enter your 1and1.com User Name and Password in the boxes here

3) Then click Log In

You are now logged in to your 1and1.com account

4) Click Manage Domains

5) Go to Transfers

6) Click Show next to Lock/Unlock Domains

7) Select the domain from the list and click Next

8) Select Unlock and click OK

You will also need to obtain the Authorization Code by going to the Basic Setting section of your 1&1 account, click Domains and then select the checkbox next to the domain you wish to transfer. From there, click Info and the authorization code will be displayed in the Auth field.

That’s it! The lock has been removed from the domain name and you can see the Auth code. You can now transfer your domain to Site5.

You can now logon to Backstage and request the domain transfer!
